African football giants, the indomitable Lions of Cameroon and the Black stars of Ghana will get their 2022 FIFA World Cup journey underway when they face opponents from Europe.
Rigobert Song’s tutored Cameroon will confront Switzerland at the Al Janoub Stadium. The Indomitable Lions are placed in a tough group which includes tournament favourite, Brazil. The other two countries are Switzerland and Serbia.

The Lions will go in search of a first World Cup triumph in two decades which would boost their chances of avoiding an early exit for the first time since 1990. This will be the first meeting between Cameroon and Switzerland in all competitions.
Also today, the Black Stars of Ghana will come up against another pre-tournament favourite Portugal in a Group H opener. This big match is billed for Stadium 974 in Doha.
Ghana missed out on the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia but they are back on the big stage this time around.

This will be the second meeting between the teams after they had earlier faced off in the group stage of the 2014 World Cup. Cristiano Ronaldo grabbed the winner in a 2-1 triumph 10 minutes from time after John Boye’s own goal on the half-hour mark was cancelled out by Asamoah Gyan’s equaliser.
Fresh off the back of a 4-0 victory over Nigeria last Thursday, Portugal now go in search of yet another dominant display against African opponents.
