Senator Abdullahi Adamu, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that Senate President Ahmad Lawan participated in the Yobe North Senatorial Primary election.
He made this clear while answering questions from State House correspondents. When asked how Lawan became a senatorial candidate, Adamu insisted that Lawan followed the rules saying:
“Don’t get yourself in the court of law. Is it that you were told or they are saying it?
“I don’t have time for negativity. I don’t just have time for that. If you face me with positives, I have time for all of that. I will stand here and answer all of your questions.
“I cannot respond to every speculation, particularly when they are negative, especially when they are by mischief makers.
“Is there any law that says when you contest an election and lost, you shouldn’t contest another one?
“Go and find out from the person who is responsible for organising the primaries. I have done my bit. I do know, in my honour, that he did participate within the timeline.”
Recall that while Senator Lawan was vying for the APC presidential nomination, Bashir Machina was declared the winner of the Yobe North Senatorial District primary election.
However, reports have surfaced that, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Yobe North Senatorial District has replaced Bashir Machina’s name with Lawan.
Bashir Machina, in response, insisted that he is still the APC’s primary candidate in the Senatorial district for the 2023 elections.
