Governor of Ekiti state and presidential aspirant, Kayode Fayemi says he has not abandoned his campaign for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
The Fayemi campaign organization stated this in response to claims that he was persuaded to abandon his presidential ambitions following a closed-door meeting.
In a statement released on Friday, Femi Ige, the campaign organization’s spokesman, characterized the allegation as “absolute rubbish.”
Ige stated that the chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) enjoys the support of “serious stakeholders” in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“It is complete nonsense. We did not meet with any potential successors to discuss stepping down.” The statement continues, “Without a doubt, we are among the top contenders for the position and one to watch in the race.
Our candidate enjoys the confidence and respect of senior leaders inside the party as well as colleagues and governors who comprise a critical mass in the decision-making process.
The spokesperson stated that no amount of nighttime demarketing will be effective against the Fayemi presidential campaign.
Absolute Rubbish! Fayemi dispels rumour of stepping down for Osinbajo
