AFRIMA Release Nomination List Featuring Burna Boy Kizz Daniel and others

The All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) in collaboration with the African Union Commission have announced the nominees for the 2022 awards. From the 9,067 submissions received for the validity period of August 20, 2021 to August 5, 2022, the jury selected 382 nominations in 39 categories.

Burna Boy, Fireboy DML, Kizz Daniel, and Tiwa Savage were among the most prominent nominees for this year’s edition. Burna Boy was nominated in four categories for Best Male Artist in Western Africa “Song of the Year,” Album of the Year, and Artist of the Year. Fireboy received nominations for “Best Male Artiste in Western Africa,” “Song of the Year,” “Artiste of the Year,” and “Best African Collaboration.” In the same vain, Tiwa Savage was nominated for “Best Female Artiste in Western Africa,” “Artiste of the Year,” “Best African Collaboration,” and “Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African R&B/Soul.” Kizz Daniel was nominated in five categories for “Best Male Artiste in Western Africa,” “Song of the Year,” “Artiste of the Year,” “Best African Collaboration,” and “Best African Collaboration.” “Best artist, duo, or group in African pop,”

West Africa led the other African regions with 134 nominations, followed by East Africa with 69 nominations and Southern Africa with 68 nominations. Others included Central Africa with 52 nominations and North Africa with 49 nominations.

In terms of individual nominations, the South African singer Costa Titch and the Congolese singer Dadju led the pack this year with six nominations each.

The voting portal will open at 12:00 (CAT) on Sunday, September 25, 2022, and close at 12:00 (CAT) on Sunday, December 10, 2022, prior to the AFRIMA main awards ceremony. All African music enthusiasts are encouraged to vote on the official website.
