If all papers are completed soon, the Europa Cup finalists would say goodbye to the player who scored their opening goal. Aribo who has had three solid years at Rangers has refused to put pen to papers on a new deal at Ibrox and is on the brink of signing for the Saints in English premiership side.
The former Charlton Athletic man had previously been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest but latest moves by Southampton according to The Athletic show they’re in prime position for the transfer.
Aribo, 25, played the highest number of games of any footballer in the world last season and was immense in Rangers’ first league title win in 10 years in 2021. He was also pivotal to Rangers run to the Europa League final last season and scored in the game against Eintracht Frankfurt.The versatile midfielder who’s capable of playing in a variety of positions wants to leave Rangers on an amicable note as he has had the best period of his life so far at Ibrox.
