After a disappointing outcome at the PDP Presidential primary election the Bauchi State governor, Senator Bala Mohammed has reverted to his backup plan of contesting a second term as Governor of the state.
In what can be described as an in-house settlement, Barr. Ibrahim Kashim, the former Secretary to the Bauchi State Government and erstwhile winner of the PDP governorship primary stepped down for the incumbent.
It will be recalled that despite the minimal campaign on his part, Mr Ibrahim emerged as the party’s flagbearer on 20th May, polling 655 votes from the 656 delegates that participated in the governorship primaries in the state.
The PDP confirmed Kashim’s withdrawal from the race. The spokesman of the party, Malam Yayanuwa Zainabari told reporters at a news conference in Bauchi that Kashim withdrew from the race citing personal reasons.
He went further to say that PDP would replace Kashim with another competent, loyal and qualified member of the party. This will be done either through fresh primaries or through affirmation as required by the party constitution
At this point, there is no doubt that the ticket is going to Bala Mohammed to contest for a second term as Governor.
