Nigerian musician, Ckay, has released a preview of his debut album, “Sad Romance.” The singer dropper a one minute clip on his Instagram page, describing his journey to the album.

According to Ckay, the album will reveal the various stages of his life, from fleeing his home to pursue his music career to scoring a global smash hit with “Love Nwantiti.”

He promises that the album will be filled with layers of his experience with sadness, depression, pain, and heartbreak.

Ckay debuted in the music industry in 2015, after fleeing from his home in Kaduna to Lagos. Chocolate City Music, which had featured great talents like MI Abaga, Ice Prince Zamani, Brymo, and others at the time, discovered and signed him.

However, he had a slow start, but he finally broke through in 2019 with the release of his EP, “Ckay the First.” The smash hit “Love Nwantiti” was present on this EP. With over 400 million streams as of the time of this report, the song is the most streamed song by an African artist on Spotify.

Ckay, who describes his music as “Emo Afrobeats,” has a talent for tapping into his listeners’ vulnerabilities and emotions. His album is eagerly awaited.

The album, however, does not have a release date but it is most likely to drop in the last quarter of 2022.
