Edo Guber: Governor Obaseki Expresses Willingness to Support PDP’s Candidate

The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has expressed his support for whoever emerges as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Edo State Governorship Elections scheduled for September 21, 2024.

He made this known in Abuja on Thursday, while attending the PDP National Working Committee meeting with the Edo State stakeholders of the party. He also dismissed any rift between him and his Deputy Governor, Philip Shuaibu, who has indicated his interest to contest for the governorship seat.

“There is no issue between me and my deputy and he is here; he wants to contest and we are not asking him to drop his ambition. He is a freeborn of Edo State, and he can contest,” Obaseki said.

He added that he would support whoever the party supports for the governorship election.

The PDP acting national chairman, Umar Damagum, revealed that all the stakeholders in Edo State have resolved to work together for the success of the party.

“We have agreed to work together as one family and we will go further to break the meeting into smaller committees so that at the end of the day, we will come out with a better solution. But in conclusion, Edo is now one family,” Damagum said.

One of the aspirants, Asue Ighodalo, also expressed confidence that the PDP would win the next election in the state.
