Christian Eriksen is set to undergo a medical and could join Manchester United’s tour in Melbourne, according to reports

Despite suggestions from Brentford boss Thomas Frank that the playmaker could still re-sign with the Bees, the Red Devils remain confident that Eriksen will become Erik ten Hag’s second signing as manager of Manchester United.

Eriksen, who first moved to the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur from Ajax in 2013, has verbally agreed to sign a three-year deal with Manchester United

Having trained with Ten Hag’s Ajax in the new year, the 30-year-old signed a short-term contract with Brentford until the end of the season in January.

The classy midfielder’s integration into the Brentford starting line-up had a dazzling effect and his influence and importance saw Frank’s side move comfortably clear of the relegation zone in their maiden campaign in the Premier League.

From the 10 games Eriksen started for the west London outfit, which brought one goal and four assists, Brentford picked up 22 points from a possible 30.

Prior to Eriksen’s first start for the Bees, the newly-promoted side had picked up 24 points from 28 games and looked to be heading for a relegation scrap.

The Denmark international is set to undergo his medical shortly and could join United’s tour Down Under.Eriksen wasn’t part of the travelling party which flew to Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday but he could link up with his new manager and teammates in Australia.
