FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP “Africa’s dream ends as France massacre Morocco”

The continent of Africa’s dream were finally doused at the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup when France crushed Morocco 4-0 in the second round.

France scored thrice within eight first half minutes as Morocco proved to be no match for their opponents. Coach Herve Renard girls added a fourth in the second half to qualify for the quarter final

Four African countries- Zambia, Morocco, South Africa, Nigeria- qualified for the tournament. Zambia crashed out in the first round

Nigeria’s Super Falcons lost to the Lionesses of England via penalties in the second round yesterday while South Africa’s Banyana Banyana were beaten 0-2 by the Netherlands on Sunday.

Africa’s last hope in the competition, Morocco suffered a heavy defeat against France to leave the continent without any chance of winning the Women’s World Cup.

South Africa is one of the four bids in the race to host the next FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2027. The winning bid shall be announced in May 2024 at the 74th FIFA Congress
