The Super Falcons of Nigeria will search for the maximum points when they confront the Women’s team of the Republic of Ireland.

The match is expected to kick off at 11a.m Nigeria time on Monday would be both countries’ last group game.

The Europeans are the last-placed team after two matches and they have nothing at stake having lost their games against Australia (0-1) and Canada (1-2).

The Falcons, led by Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie need a point to qualify for the tournament’s second round. Nigeria played out a goalless draw against Canada in their opening match, shocking the host nation Australia 3-2.

As it stands in the group, Nigeria leads with four points, the same as Canada but the Super Falcons have scored more goals. The encounter between Australia and Canada is a winner-takes but the Australians will rely on the vociferous home support they have enjoyed.

The last group matches shall kick off simultaneously at two different venues and a comfortable win for the Super Falcons shall see them top the group.
