Popular Nollywood Actress Funke Akindele has recently been nominated as one of the possible running mates of the governorship candidate Alhaji Abdulaziz Olajide Adediran also known as Jandor of Lagos State under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The award-winning Nollywood actress is gradually easing into politics. This is coming on the heels of her colleague, Tonto Dikeh’s nomination as the ADC deputy governorship candidate in Rivers State.
PDP recently penned down a list of possible candidates for the position of running mate. Amongst the list is Nollywood Actress Funke Akindele also known as Jenifer; former governorship aspirant, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour; former Senatorial candidate for Lagos East, Yeye Shobajo; governorship aspirant, David Kolawole Vaughan and Engr. Teslim Balogun.
It was learnt that a committee was set us to screen the aspirant to get the most suitable candidate. Of the shortlisted candidates, however, Rhodes-Vivour and Kolawole are from Lagos West which is the same senatorial district as Jandor, therefore reducing their chances. Yeye Shobajo and Funke Akindele are from East while Balogun is from Lagos Central. Also, there is a strong case for a woman to be a running mate.
In recent times, a picture of Jandor and Funke surfaced on the internet and has gone viral leaving speculations that she has been chosen as the Deputy Governorship Candidate.
While the decision on who will run with the governorship candidate is yet to be taken, the actress has only been nominated as a potential running mate.
