’23FWWC: Falcons face Lionesses hurdle in the second round

Nigeria’s Super Falcons will face the firepower of the Lionesses of England in the second round of the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Coach Randy Waldrum’s girls have surpassed expectations by qualifying from a group that was hugely regarded as a tough one. The Falcons played a goalless draw against
Canada and Ireland defeated co-hosts Australia 3-2.

Nigeria placed second in their group and it paved the way for a second-round clash against the Lionesses of England who won their group with nine points. Their last result was a 6-1 thrashing of China on Tuesday morning.

Nigeria’s encounter against England will come up on Monday, August 7 at the Brisbane Stadium in Australia, with both teams hoping to outscore each other in a bid to book a quarter-final ticket

The match is expected to begin at 8:30 am, Nigeria time.
