Gabriel Jesus is due to undergo a medical with Arsenal today ahead of his £45 million move from Manchester City.
The Gunners have made the Brazil international one of their top targets for the summer transfer window as Mikel Arteta is keen to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new season.
Jesus has just a year remaining on his contract with City and is keen to leave the Premier League champions to secure more playing time ahead of Brazil’s World Cup campaign later this year. The arrival of Erling Haaland at City would have also been a factor behind Jesus’ decision to leave Pep Guardiola’s side.
Arsenal agreed a £45m deal with City last week and Fabrizio Romano reports that Jesus is now in London to complete his medical with the Gunners.
The 25-year-old has agreed to sign a five-year contract with Arteta’s side.
Jesus worked alongside Arteta at City and the Spaniard played a key role in convincing the forward to make the move to north London.
Jesus will become Arsenal’s fourth signing so far this summer following the arrivals of Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos and Matt Turner.
Arsenal are also keen to conclude a deal for Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez and have submitted an improved offer of £34.5m for the Argentine, who is also on Manchester United’s shortlist.
The Gunners have also scheduled further talks with Raphinha’s agent after their opening bid for the Brazilian winger was rejected by Leeds United earlier this month.
