Ghana President Denies Telling Tinubu to Step Down For Peter Obi

The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, has denied claims that he asked the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to step down in order for the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Peter Obi, to run.

There were rumors that Akufo-Addo asked Tinubu to withdraw from the race because of health concerns.

However, the President dismissed the reports as completely false and misleading, claiming that it is not in his nature to interfere in Nigeria’s internal affairs.

“My attention has been drawn to a disturbing post making the rounds on social media, where it is alleged I have written to the 2023 presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to” give Peter Obi a chance and seek treatment for his health, he said on Twitter.

“This is completely false and malicious, with no iota of truth in it. I have not written such a letter to the APC leader and will not do so in the future. Ghana and Nigeria have had decades of cordial, strong, and brotherly relations, and I will not interfere in Nigeria’s internal affairs and politics.”
