Arsenal and Tottenham are locked in a transfer battle for £42m rated Gabriel Jesus of Manchester City

The Brazilian played 90 minutes on the final day of the season as City dramatically secured the Premier League title from Liverpool by coming back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 on Sunday.

Despite scoring 13 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions this season, Jesus has generally not been first choice for much of the season and has said he wants to leave for more regular first-team football elsewhere.

Arsenal was thought to be the most likely destination, with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta – who worked with the 25-year-old when he was assistant at City – keen on a reunion.

But according to reports from England, their fierce north London rivals Tottenham have joined the race to sign him after pipping them to fourth spot and Champions League football.

They reported Jesus’ agent Marcelo Pettinati as saying his client is aware of Spurs’ interest, with five other clubs also keen on his signature.
