The alleged assault trial of Nigerian rapper Panshak Zamani, also known as Ice Prince, hit a dead end Wednesday, September 7th due to the absence of two key witnesses in the case.
During the trial, the prosecution lawyer requested that the case be adjourned because his two key witnesses were not present.
Ice Prince is charged with three counts of kidnapping, obstructing a police officer from performing his statutory duties, and assault.
During his previous hearing, the court granted him bail in the amount of 500,000 naira and required him to provide two sureties as part of his bail conditions. As a result, he was remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Facility pending the fulfillment of the bail conditions.
On September 2nd, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, posted a series of tweets regarding Ice Prince’s arrest. He claimed that the rapper was arrested for assaulting a police officer who pulled him over for driving without licence plates and threatened to throw the officer in the river.
The hearing is scheduled to resume on October 24th.
