Kemi Lala Akindoju, a Nollywood actress and producer, has joined Amazon Studios’ four-person development team. She joins the team as the team’s senior film director.
Ned Mitchell, Amazon Studios’ head of original content for Africa and the Middle East, expressed his excitement about the addition of Lala Akindoju to the team.
M-Net’s former Head of Local Productions and Independent Films, Kaye Ann Williams, Brendan Gabriel, and Mike-Steve Adeleye, will join her on the team.
On Instagram, Akindoju expressed her joy at her new role. “I am incredibly excited to be joining the Amazon Studios Local Originals team as the Senior Movies Creative Executive, Nigeria. Amazon Studios has shown its commitment to creating opportunities that are laser focused on creatives & content.”
Akindoju who has been involved in the production of great Nigerian movies and TV shows such as Smart Money Woman, The Royal Hibiscus Hotel, Oloture among others will definitely bring something positive to the Amazon team they believe.
In August, Amazon launched Prime Video Naija, giving Nigerian subscribers access to over 10,000 titles, including a forthcoming slate of films and scripted and unscripted content. Amazon Studios is committed to developing talent and providing authentic premium content to a local and global audience.
