Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, a former Kano State governor, has emerged as the presidential candidate of the opposition New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
The VIP magazine gathered that the former Senator was unanimously elected by 774 party delegates from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja during the party’s Special National Convention on Wednesday at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja using the voice voting method.
At a press conference in Lagos last Friday, the NNPP’s founding National Chairman, Boniface Aniegbonam, stated that Kwankwaso was the party’s sole presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections.
Kwankwso served as Kano State Governor from 1999 to 2003 and again from 2011 to 2015. He was later elected to the Senate in 2015, representing Kano Central Senatorial District on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
