Ifagbemi Awamaridi, the Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Lagos State, has denied that former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has joined the Labour Party.
The former governor reportedly left the All Progressives Congress (APC) to run for governor of Lagos State on the Labour Party platform.
Sources close to the Governor, however, denied this claim, claiming that he is still an active member of the APC.
The Labour Party also stated that Ambode is not yet a registered member of their party, despite his name trending on the microblogging platform Twitter connection to the party.
Akinwunmi Ambode served as Governor of Lagos State for the APC from 2015 to 2019. However, he had to step aside after failing to secure the party’s ticket for a second term.
He has been absent from the political scene for several years after his failed bid for a second term.
