The Labour Party (LP) will announce Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed as the running mate to Presidential candidate Peter Obi for the 2023 general elections.
The unveiling was originally scheduled for Thursday in Abuja. Unfortunately, the party’s National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, revealed that they could not proceed with the unveiling because Peter Obi was stranded in Maiduguri due to flight delays.
As a result, Abure stated that the unveiling will take place on Friday, July 8, at the national headquarters in Abuja.
Doyin Okupe, a former presidential aide, had previously resigned as the Labour Party’s Vice Presidential candidate.
Okupe stated on his Twitter account that he had submitted his withdrawal letter as the Labour Party’s Vice Presidential candidate and feels honoured to be a part of the party’s success foundation.
Senator Baba-Ahmed represented the Zaria Federal Constituency from 2003 to 2007. From 2011 to 2012, he represented Kaduna North Senatorial District. In 2018, he was a presidential aspirant under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Baba-Ahmed is currently the Pro-Chancellor of Baze University in Abuja.
