Liverpool eyes Pulisic

Jurgen Klopp is interested in signing his former Borussia Dortmund players Christian Pulisic for Liverpool.

That’s according to The Daily Mail, who claim that Klopp ‘likes’ Pulisic, and wants to bring the £58m man to Liverpool.

However, a deal for the 23-year-old is reported to be unlikely at this current moment. The reason for this is reportedly due to the valuation that Chelsea currently have for their player.

Pulisic was brought to Dortmund under Klopp’s watch as a 16-year-old in early 2016.

This is quite an interesting link and one which isn’t completely unexpected. Liverpool had long been thought to have an interest in Pulisic before he signed for Chelsea in 2019.

Klopp even addressed the speculation directly the year before he signed for their rivals.

“If Christian would at one point join us, I don’t know,” the Liverpool manager said via liverpool.com “But I like him and it’s not like that could be the problem. We respect contracts still and there is no market that I know about in the moment.

“I have known him since he was a kid and he’s still not really old. He’s a fantastic player and it’s deserved that people think highly of him in America and in Germany it’s the same.”

A glowing review from Jurgen for a player who he knows pretty well.

There’s no doubt that Klopp’s comments were sincere. But the truth is that Pulisic hasn’t quite impressed quite as much as expected upon his arrival in England.

The American has 25 goals in 115 games and has been hampered with niggling injuries throughout his time in the Premier League.

Despite that, he has had flashes of brilliance. Ironically enough, a few of those have actually come against Liverpool.
