After a mind-blowing rendition of Ariana Grande’s ‘Bang Bang’ as his final single performance on the show, Progress went on to beat Zadok, his strongest rival, to win the title of ‘Nigerian Idol’.
One of the highlights of the night was the emotionally charged moment when the parents of the last two contestants were brought up on the stage after they performed. The night also saw thrilling performances from D’Banj and Simi, who were also judges for the show.
The show, which lasted a total of nine weeks, was reported to have drawn in over 200 million votes, 45 million of which were recorded for the finale.
Progress’ win sees him clinch the N30m cash prize, a brand new SUV, a Bigi branded refrigerator and a year’s supply of Bigi drinks. He will also get a record deal, a weekend getaway from TravelBeta as well as a DStv Explora fully installed with a 12 months premium subscription.
