Nigerian rapper and ex Big Brother Naija winner,l Laycon, has joined the Grammy Awards voting committee. This was announced by the Recording Academy on its official Twitter account.
Voting members include recording artists, performers, producers, engineers, songwriters, instrumentalists, and other active music creators.
To be eligible for membership on the voting committee, a person must have creative credits on at least six songs from a physical release or twelve songs from a digital album. Only about 12,000 of the academy’s 21,000 members are eligible to vote.

The recording academy voters perform two stages for the recording academy. They go through the yearly submissions and nominate artists for awards in various categories. They also cast votes in their areas of expertise for major awards including Recording of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best New Artist.
Laycon is the first African rapper to be selected for the voting committee. Voting for the Grammys is open until October 23, and the nominations for this year will be announced on November 15.
