Following the floods that have ravaged various parts of Nigeria, the Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Foundation has donated an undisclosed sum to charities in Nigeria to assist flood victims by providing relief materials.

The Duchess of Sussex announced on her Archetypes Podcast Series on Tuesday that after taking a genealogy test a few years ago, she discovered she is 43 percent Nigerian.

Following that revelation, which sparked excitement among Nigerians on various social media platforms, a Spotify representative issued a statement confirming that the Archewell Foundation made donations to Save the Children and UNICEF.

Over 600 people have been killed and over 1.5 million people have been displaced in Nigeria as a result of the floods, which have destroyed over 440,000 hectares of farmland across the country. Heavy rainfall and the Lagdo Dam in neighbouring Cameroon, which released its water through the River Benue, were blamed for the flood.

Save the Children confirmed in a tweet that the Archewell Foundation of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has donated to their efforts in Nigeria, where their team is working hard to provide life-saving assistance to victims across the country.
