Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has directed all provincial pastors to require members to obtain Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
“We refer to the foregoing and would like to kindly inform you that we have received a directive from the Mission Authority to ensure a high level of sensitization in all our parishes on the need for all our members to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise,” said a church memo addressed to all provincial pastors.
The letter, dated June 17, and issued by Belemina Obunge, the Intercontinental Youth Pastor/PICR under the RCCG, also directed pastors to use their parishes as sensitization centres in order to speed up PVC registration.
“Considering the closeness of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise deadline (June 30, 2022), provincial headquarters and mega parishes are encouraged to use their parish as a centre for one or two days to facilitate their members’ and interested neighbours’ registration,” the letter continued.
In addition, the church directed parishes to compile a report comparing the number of eligible voters in the church to the number of PVCs counted.
“Provinces will be required to send to the office of the undersigned a summary report of parishes’ compliance with the above directive, stating the number of adult members versus the number of PVCs counted,” it stated. “The report is due on or before June 27th, 2022, for compilation and submission to the Mission Authority.”
In Nigeria, there are over 32,000 RCCG parishes.
