Nigerian street hop artist, Mohbad, has ended his contract with Naira Marley’s music imprint, Marlian Music.

Mohbad’s management announced the termination on Tuesday, October 25th. His lawyers also revealed that the termination was the result of Naira Marley’s constant attacks on him for unpaid royalties since 2019.

Earlier this month, Mohbad took to Twitter in a video that went viral, claiming that he was attacked by the Marlian Music crew because he requested that his manager be changed.

He went on to say that he was in the hospital for a CT scan for head trauma and a chest X-ray as a result of the crew’s assault. He also claimed that Naira Marley was present during the attack but did nothing to stop it.

“In violation of the agreement between our client and yourself, you have not paid any of the advances that were agreed upon by both parties since 2019,” the document stated.

“You have also failed to pay all royalties owed to our client from all of his intellectual property works that you have monetized, released, and used from 2019 to date.”

The statement went on to demand that Naira Marley pay all royalties, advances, and monetary compensation owed to Mohbad, as well as return to the artist the catalogue of music released under Marlian Music.
