Tinubu Assigns Portfolio – Wike, Umahi, Edun Appointed to FCT, Works, and Finance Ministries

President Bola Tinubu has assigned portfolios to the 45 ministerial nominees recently cleared for appointment by the Senate of the National Assembly.

Notable inclusions feature former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, who takes the helm of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), while ex-Ebonyi State counterpart, David Umahi, will pilot the Ministry of Works.

The list was disclosed on Wednesday night by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelae.

Among the appointments, Mr. Wale Edun has been designated as the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, and Bunmi Tunji will be at the helm of the Marine and Blue Economy ministry.

Other portfolios include Bosun Tijani taking on the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Ishak Salako assuming the role of Minister of State for Environment and Ecological Management. Adedayo Adelabu has been assigned the Ministry of Power, while Tunji Alausa takes charge as Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare. Dele Alake assumes responsibility for the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, Lola Ade-John for Tourism, and Adegboyega Oyetola for Transportation.

Other key appointments feature Doris Anite as the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Uche Nnaji as the Minister of Innovation Science and Technology, Nkiruka Onyejeocha as the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, and Uju Kennedy as the Minister of Women Affairs. Festus Keyamo, SAN, has been assigned the portfolio of Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

Abubakar Momoh will be in charge of the Ministry of Youth, Betta Edu will oversee Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Ekperikpe Ekpo takes on the role of Minister of State for Gas Resources, and Heineken Lokpobiri for Minister of State for Petroleum Resources. Senator John Enoh will lead the Ministry of Sports Development, while Hannatu Musawa will head the Ministry of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy.

The list further outlines Mohammed Badaru as the Minister of Defence, Bello Matawalle as the Minister of State for Defence, and Yusuf T. Sununu as the Minister of State for Education. Ahmed M. Dangiwa takes the reins of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, with Abdullah T. Gwarzo as the Minister of State. The Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning will be led by Atiku Bagudu, while Mairiga Mahmoud assumes the role of Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory.

Among other appointments, Joseph Utsev will oversee the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi will be Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, and Lateef Fagbemi will serve as the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.

The nominee from Kaduna State is expected to occupy the Environment and Ecological Management Ministry.

However, the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs appeared to have been scrapped as it was not on the ministerial list released yesterday.
