Former Lagos State Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu has clinched the All Progressives Congress presidential ticket for the 2023 general election.
After the official vote counts, Tinubu had polled more than 60%, winning by a landslide of 1271 total votes of APC delegates.
Delegates from Akwa Ibom state did not vote due to a court order prohibiting two factions of the APC in the state from voting.
According to the official figures released by vote collation officer Osagie Ize-Iyamu, former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi finished second to Tinubu with 316 votes.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo came in third place with 235 votes, while Senate President Ahmed Lawan received 152 votes.
Tinubu received support from Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi, former governors of Ogun; Ibikunle Amosun, Akwa Ibom; Godswill Akpabio, Senator Ajayi Boroffice, former House of Representatives Speaker Dimeji Bankole, and the only female aspirant Uju Kennedy Ohanenye before the election.
