US-based global Organisation Team 54 Project International bestows Green Award to Niger Delta Climate Advocate Dr Hephzibah Suobo

A US-based organisation with a global network across 169 countries conferred a Green Award on Dr Hephzibah Suobo at the Team 54 Project International Eco-Hero Awards held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on 28th October 2022.

Attending the event virtually, Dr Suobo received high commendations for his contribution as a leading environmental advocate in the Niger Delta region. The President and Founder of the organisation, Dr Gbujie Daniel Chibudem praised the recipient for his numerous engagements that have raised awareness of green issues in Bayelsa and brought them to the forefront of policymaking in the State.

“A case in point is the setting up of the Bayelsa State Ecosystem Restoration Committee by the State Government which was born out of your efforts and networking” he said.

Dr Suobo expressed his appreciation for the honour on his social media page thanking Dr Gguije and Team 54 Project. He went on to dedicate the award to the Almighty God for the inspiration to go into the climate movement and to all victims of the recent devastating floods in Bayelsa and other parts of the country.

He also commended fellow award recipients, such as Mary Apollo (Founder, 4 Directions) and Emmanuel Flomo, stating that their collective efforts will go a long way in changing the narrative for the Niger Delta and Nigeria.

Team 54 Project International is a US-based 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, that identifies unique and innovative ways to advocate for SDG13 and to take climate action, towards building climate resilience in the community, with a specific focus on existing systems: environment, agriculture, education, economy, health and security.

Established in 2017 by the group’s Founder – Dr Gbujie Daniel Chidubem and with the help of passionate members of over 110,000 members, the organisation supports campaigns, clean-up exercise, with projected engagement beyond 2030 for a future that supports green ventures.
