Nigerian sprinter Tobi Amusan won the women’s 100mH at the Diamond League final in Zurich, breaking a 22 year-old meeting record. The World and Commonwealth Games 100m hurdles champion and record holder finished in 12.29s. American Tia Jones came in 2nd in 12.40s while Britany Anderson of Jamaica ran 12.42s to finish 3rd.

Ivory Coast’s Ta Lou Marie Josee returned in a time of 10.91s to claim the bronze medal in the Women’s 100m race.

Kenyan runner Moraa May won the gold medal in the Women’s 800m. She returned in a time of 1.57.63

Ethiopia’s Werkuha Getachew was the best in the Women’s 3000m Steeplechase. She claimed the gold medal in 9.03.57 while Kenya’s Faith Cherotich won the bronze medal in 9.06.14

Tunisia’s Tennis star, Ons Jabeur lost in the finals of the US Open to 21-year-old Iga Swiatek. She lost 6-2 7-6 (7-5) in an hour and 50 minutes at Flushing Meadows as Poland’s Swiatek added her first hard-court major trophy to her two French Open successes.
Nigeria’s Table Tennis sensation, Aruna Quadri defeated Egypt’s Omar Assar 4-3 (8-11, 9-11, 11-8, 6-11, 11-7, 13-11, 14-12) to clinch his second continental title in the men’s singles of the 2022 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) African championship.
Burkina Faso and Lorient of France forward Dango Ouatara scored the opening goal in the 19th minute as his club defeated Nantes 3-2 in a French Ligue 1 encounter. Nigeria’s Super Eagles winger, Simon Moses scored Nantes second goal but it was not enough to stop his team from losing. Malian attacker Ibrahima Kone scored the match winning third goal.
