A Former Accountant-General of Rivers State, Siminalaye Fubara, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. Mr Fubara polled 721 votes out of 980 to defeat 15 other contestants.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) declared Fubara Siminayi and four other members of Wike’s government wanted on allegations of fraud to the tune of about ₦435 billion.

In a statement cited by Punch, the EFCC stated that Fubara and others are wanted for criminal conspiracy, money laundering, misappropriation of public funds and abuse of office.

The head of media and publicity for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, called on the general public to assist in the arrest of Mr Fubara and his accomplices.

Uwujaren said, “We call on anyone with useful information as to the whereabouts of the Account-General to contact any of the Agency’s offices or the nearest police station or other security agencies.”
Fubara Siminayi is speculated to be the preferred candidate of Governor Nyesom Wike.
