Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has praised the All Progressives Congress (APC) for nominating former Governor, Senator Kashim Shettima, as the APC’s Vice Presidential candidate.

Zulum made this statement while applauding the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for selecting Shettima as his running mate.

The APC announced Shettima on Sunday as Tinubu’s running mate in the upcoming 2023 general elections.

While praising Tinubu’s choice, Zulum noted that Shettima is a patriotic politician with a thorough understanding of the country. He promised to campaign hard for the ticket in order to ensure the APC’s victory at the polls next year.

Zulum also mentioned that Shettima, as a politician, is well-versed in economic issues. He claimed that during Shettima’s tenure as Governor of Borno State, he anticipated a drop in oil revenue, prompting him to import agricultural products worth N30 billion to the state, making Borno the wealthiest state in terms of agricultural machinery at the time.

Meanwhile, before Shettima was announced as Tinubu’s running mate, APC Vice Presidential placeholder Ibrahim Masari stepped down.

Masari thanked the party and explained that he was stepping down to allow the Presidential candidate to choose a running mate with more leeway to propel the party to victory next year.
